Teghaza 001 meteorite formed at least 4.1 billion years ago and samples Mars’s early crust
Teghaza 001, an 800 g Sahara meteorite, formed at least 4.1 billion years ago and samples Mars's early crust and a primordial mantle source, Science reports.
What it does not show If a later heating or fluid event reset all three clocks together, 4.1 billion years is when that happened and the rock crystallised earlier, so the age is a minimum.
